Ito is about 100 kilometres south of Tokyo, which sounds close until you start looking at the options and realise there are several ways to get there, each with different trade-offs. This is a straightforward breakdown of the main routes, based on what guests at Flowing Shore Panorama have found works best.
By train from Tokyo Station ¶
The Odoriko limited express runs from Tokyo Station directly to Ito Station. The journey takes between 90 and 100 minutes depending on the service. Trains run several times a day, with more frequent departures on weekends. A reserved seat costs around 4,500 yen one way. You can book through the JR website or at any major station. If you have a JR Pass, the Odoriko is covered. Check the specific service before you travel, as some departures require a separate limited express ticket even with a pass.
By highway bus ¶
There is a highway bus service from Shinjuku Bus Terminal to Ito that takes around two hours and costs roughly 2,500 yen. It is cheaper than the train but less frequent, and the schedule changes seasonally. The bus drops you at Ito Station, from where a taxi to Flowing Shore Panorama takes about 12 minutes. The bus is a reasonable option if you are travelling light and the timing works. Check the Tokai Bus website for current schedules before you plan around it.
By car from Tokyo ¶
Driving takes around two hours from central Tokyo via the Tomei Expressway to Numazu, then Route 136 south to Ito. Traffic on summer weekends and during Golden Week can add 30 to 60 minutes to that estimate. Parking at the guesthouse is free, with four spaces behind the building. If you are arriving during a busy period, mention it when you book and we will note the space for you. There is also a coin car park about 200 metres away if all four spaces are taken.
From Ito Station to the guesthouse ¶
From Ito Station, a taxi to Flowing Shore Panorama costs roughly 1,400 to 1,600 yen and takes about 12 minutes. The Tokai Bus route toward Kawana stops at Yugawa Kaigan-mae, which is an 8-minute walk from the front door. Bus times vary by day of the week, and the Sunday timetable is notably different from the weekday one. The full current timetable is on our access page. If you are arriving late or with heavy luggage, the taxi is the simpler choice.
